Participant::This one sounds pretty simple, but I’m surprised at how many times I don’t do this. I get caught up in playing the whole piece from top to bottom, and I think this takes my focus away from the little subtleties. Combining this tip with Tip #1 is a very powerful tool. Slow it down, take it a section at a time, and play it perfectly. And don’t move on to the next section of the song until you can play the first section perfectly. Keep taking it a small section at a time and then start stringing them together. This is a great way to develop good technique and a smooth sound.
