The speed which the band is playing at is incredible. Also, there are different rhythm concepts in this set from what sounds like a Rumba bass line to a shuffle. There is also space for backup. Not every square foot is covered with a banjo roll or fiddle lick. The band has “bounce” unlike most current Bluegrass bands. To do that at super fast tempos is extraordinary!

I saw them play in 1962 when I was a kid and they were incredible entertainers! Lester’s cocked hat and smile owned the crowd the afternoon I saw them. I think I picked up the term “Great Big Howdydoo” that day, which my Chattanooga Grandmother did not think was proper language to use at the dinner table. ?
