I hope that this is the right place for a “kudo” from “Kuno.” Rob, I just want to tell you what a great site you have! I’m more and more awed every time I log on. In a good sense, it lets me know how much I DON”T know. I think that one of my general handicaps is that I’m mainly self-taught, which means that unless I’m a virtuoso (which I’m not), I’ve picked up a lot of bad habits along the way, which are maybe still holding me back: some of this is because I don’t know that they’re bad, because I mainly play by ear, by feel, and by what I like or want to play. I have played with good people, but bad musicians, so I sometimes get lazy and frustrated. I don’t read music, so I go to sleep when someone talks “music theory” with me. Also by being largely self taught, I have skipped stages of musical development, like the dobro neck (where to find notes, where to find single string leads when playing in other than “open ‘G’) I’ve sometimes been like a baby that’s trying to run when he can’t walk yet…This is where you and Rob’s Reso Room come in. You are patient, you never put anyone down for asking a question they should know. You’ve broken down several songs for me. While your site isn’t always easy to navigate, everything is there for us if we in turn are patient with ourselves. If we take time to break things down, learn the scales, learn learn how to lift the bar while still contacting the strings, learn the “taters,” learn the basics. We will never be able to play like you, Mike Auldridge, or Uncle Josh, even after mastering some of the skills that you present to us on your sit. But if we put in the time and practice, you don’t have guarantee that we will play more like ourselves, only a lot better…Thanx again…GOD BLESS YOU! jmk
